Halloween Spooktacular! at the Camden Public Library
Bring the kids over to the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, October 30th from 5 to 6 PM for the annual Halloween Spooktacular! Heapfuls of holiday fun—ghost stories, hands-on crafts, games, snacks, and (of course) costumes—are on tap for the occasion.
Halloween Activities at the Rockland Public Library
The Rockland Public Library has its own slew of Halloween happenings scheduled for Tuesday, October 30th. At 4 PM, Catinka Knoth will lead a “Let’s Draw Together!” children’s drawing workshop themed around the holiday, with such sketching subjects as Jack-O-Lanterns, witches, haunted houses, autumnal trees, scarecrows, and cats featured. At 6 PM, meanwhile, Ghost Story Night with Miss Jean will feature a scary-storytelling contest complete with prizes and Halloween nibbles.
Grownups, meanwhile, might consider the evening’s Literary Talk at 6:30 PM, focused, appropriately enough, on the 200th birthday of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein monster. Raymond D. Boisvert will present an overview of the classic horror novel’s legacy and its complex themes.
Red Cloak Haunted History Tours
Indulge in a little healthy hair-raising spookiness while learning local history with a fascinating (and just a little freaky) walkabout with Red Cloak Haunted History Tours. Your guide, the “Lady in the Red Cloak,” will lead you by lantern through the history-soaked—and haunted—streets of Boothbay Harbor, Rockland, Camden, Bar Harbor, Wiscasset, and other Midcoast towns on the company’s popular (and all-ages) Twilight Tours. You can also get to know some of the well-known residents interred in the region’s burial grounds on Red Cloak’s Historic Cemetery Explorations.
CMCA Halloween Bash
The Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockland is throwing its annual CMCA Halloween Bash. This lively event features a crazy costume contest, good music, lots of dancing and a cash bar for the adults. Tickets will be sold at the door on October 27th and the Halloween Bash runs from 8pm to 12am!
